The best granola!

The Best Granola!

This yummy granola is delicious and so easy!

Recipe:

  • 3 cups Dry Oats
  • 1/2 cup Syrup or Honey
  • 1/2 cup Walnuts
  • 1/2 cup Pumpkin seeds (For nuts, feel free to sub whatever you have on hand!)
  • 1/2 cup Dried Cranberries
  • 1/2 cup Pumpkin (it will not come out Pumpkin-y this is in place of the oil)
  • 1/4 cup Apple sauce
  • 1/4 cup Dried Unsweetened Coconut
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Spread evenly onto a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake for 20 minutes, then check and shake it around a little, then put back in the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes! Hope you enjoy!

Healthy Vanilla Smoothie!

Healthy Vanilla Smoothie!

This is a delicious creamy vanilla smoothie! I make this all the time because it is so easy and yummy!

Recipe:

  • Frozen banana (if you do not have a frozen banana on hand, use a regular banana but add a handful of ice cubes so that you still have the "frozen" aspect of the smoothe.)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup plain or vanilla yogurt (I use plain greek yogurt, but use whatever you prefer!)
  • 1 packet of stevia
  • If you want it a little sweeter, I sometimes add a teaspoon or so of honey!
  • 1/2 cup of milk of choice
  • optional: Chia seeds, frozen berries, cocoa powder, baby spinach( turns it green but you can't taste it!) peanut butter
Blend all ingredients up and enjoy!
The great thing about this smoothie is its so basic that you can enjoy the simple vanilla flavor, but its so easy to make it any other flavor! You can add berries, cocoa powder or chocolate chips, dry oats, and so much more!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwiches!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwiches!

Today, my mom told me to make some more of my infamous chocolate chip cookies ;)
They were modified from this recipe off of my all time favorite blog, Chocolate Covered Katie! www.chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2011/04/27/worlds-healthiest-chocolate-chip-cookie

Recipe:
For the cookies:
  • 1 1/3 cups of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon regular sugar or sugar substitute
  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 tablespoons milk of choice (I use original almond milk)
  • 2 tablespoons melted oil of choice (I use coconut)
For the icing:
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Mix up all the dry ingredients then add the wet to the dry. I normally use an ice cream scooper and end up with about 15 cookies that are pretty big. Bake for 12-15 minutes, depending on how crispy or soft you like your cookies :) Once the cookies are nice and cooled, spread the icing onto to the back of the cookies, press together, and enjoy!

About Us!

Hi, welcome to Smilebakers! We are a mother and daughter baking team turning our old recipes into healthy recipes that still taste delicious!

We both love baking and cooking so much, we bake almost everyday! I hope you enjoy our blog! We are both gluten-free, but for our recipes the only difference is that we use gluten-free all purpose flour. Even if you are not gluten-free you can sub with regular flour.

Why Smilebakers?

When trying to come up with a name for our blog, my dad suggested Smilebakers because his company is Smilemakers and the name just kinda stuck! I'm Isabel and I am 13 years old.  I run cross country and track but my absolute favorite thing is baking!  My mom, Ashley, is a 'super mom' as well as a first grade teacher! ;)

Please leave questions, comments, and suggestions we love to hear from you!
